Here in Elftown there have been drawing contests, photography contests, colouring contests, prose contests, poetry contests, clothes-designing contests... contests that cater for the interests of this community.

Except one. In a community teeming with Role-players, where is the contest to decide the best? I have seen many people claim to be excellent role-players, only the be disappointed when I saw their skill. I've seen god players, power players and hundreds of Mary Sues. But I have also seen skill, talent, interesting characters and strong role-playing. Now it's time to put that skill and talent to the test.

2006-01-13 [Faulty Limerence]: Hahah of course.

2006-01-13 [Wes Foxx]: Still :( that doesn't tell me if this is gonna be a *throws dart at list* you will be fighting at such and such, or if we're just gonna have this random setting throughout all the fights.

2006-01-13 [Kai Crewger]: you won't know until you've chosen your character that yer gonna use (if you have more than one) and everyone else that's gonna be RPing with you is set up to go.

2006-01-13 [iippo]: Kai said it best. You can't know at this point. Because it's more fun that you don't know (more fun for me :P)

2006-01-13 [Kai Crewger]: that's because I am. and iippo says we must go chatter on the other wiki.

2006-01-13 [Faulty Limerence]: I thought she meant to come to this one.

2006-01-13 [Kai Crewger]: no. Champion's Tournament is the one she meant...

2006-01-13 [Kai Crewger]: because this is a wiki where people ask a lot of questions.

2006-01-14 [duckofdoom]: so it's okay to use a character from a wiki here on et?

2006-01-14 [Kai Crewger]: yeah. that's what a bunch of people have been doing, as far as I can tell

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: When you say you can enter 3 characters, if we lose with any char do we lose lose, or do we get to try to win/lose with each?

2006-01-14 [Ironballs "the Preposterous One"]: You can submit up to 3 characters and you can choose to play any one of them in whichever parts of the contest you like.

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: lols, dammit..is it my lack of understanding? Because that could still be interpreted as when one of my characters loses in any part of the contest I can't play anymore...and I know I can use them in the parts, but are they independent of one another, or when one of them lose, they all lose. I am pretty sure, simply by the diction you used, your tone was one that was in agreement with what I was saying. Despite that your sentence can be interpreted in different fashions. So because I am pointlessly reading way tooo much into what you said, could you disperse my doubt with a yes your chars will all lose for one, or no if one char loses they dont all lose...lols.

2006-01-14 [Ironballs "the Preposterous One"]: You're free to use any of the characters you submit whenever you like in the contest. Players will be eliminated if their score is bellow passing level. You'll never loose any of your characters during the contest but if you're eliminated from the contest... well, you wouldn't really be able to use any character if you're eliminated. (This is as far as I know, which is to say I might be corrected by [iippo] or [windowframe] but I'm pretty sure that's about right.)

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: Thank you^_^, if my performance is outdone by any of the other contesnts when it is my turn, then I lose, its not my char losing it me, which means, I can flip into 3 different suits, however its still me that will be losing. 3 chances is way to many anyway lols. Thanks ^_^

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: I didnt know if it was like I have three cars to crash, and until I have crashed them all, I am still in the game, in which I didnt think it was like that, sooo...I had to make sure. In which, If I crash with any of them, I am outta the game.

2006-01-14 [windowframe]: ^^ Yeah, if you 'crash' any, you're out. So pick carefully :P

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: Yup, I get options,...but I have another personal dillema...Most of my rp chars are specific to there own wikis...I usually dont have one overuling character for me...I make a new rp char, for every new rp i go to...or I make a char that cant be used anywhere...am sad for a while, until I just getting around to making a whole rp because I just had to use the char I couldnt help but to make lols...tis a viscous cycle...*rolls eyes at self* Oh well, I have a while before that is necessary...

2006-01-14 [iippo]: We understand that some people are more tied to the characters world than others, and that in it's own can be good roleplaying. But we have thought this out that when playing commences, it will not hinder the player to be "in the wrong world."

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: Perhaps,...certain of my chars, or really my only currently roleplaying one, couldnt really do it, he isnt suited...oh well...Hmmmms. Sometimes not fighting,...thats easy to determine the end of the session. Thats like the grading period I would think...if not fighting, then what? What would there grading period be, like if it isnt fighting which has an obvious end, then what would be the other things end. Sorry, I know you dont have to or wont tell me, I am still going to speculate.

2006-01-14 [iippo]: Round 1 = grading your character submission. The character sheet itself. Round 2+ = roleplaying for those whose character wasnt too bad. And no player should be thinking "but my character can't play out of its world" since it will all work out just fine. And remember people - the champion who wins this tournament is not the character! It is the player. So a player whose only charatcer is a 5-year-old can still win to be the champion. Roleplaying is about staying in character.

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: What are the criteria for character sheet grading?

2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: We aren't giving out the criteria because we don't want people making characters that just aim to please the judges, we want them to make the best character they can make in their own accord.

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Then will you at leasst message us and tell us why we got the grade we did, good or bad? Because what's the point if we can't use this experience to further ourselves and be better the next go-around?

2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: Yep, people will have the option of requesting their scores through PM (at least that's what I think we agreed upon)

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Ah okay, good. You guys are doing pretty good with this so far. Keep it up!

2006-01-14 [iippo]: Yes, you can ask for them after the judging, but you have to promise to take it as constructve critisism and not go on a tantrum if you don't like what was said. :D I know I'd want to know my grades so I could learn from it, so I know where you stand, but not all people want to hear critisism on their precious charries they've toiled over and love and obsess over so much... <.<

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Well, they shouldn't RP then. Because in an RP, you want to be as good as you can and if you aren't, guaranteed someone will point it out to you. To be a good roleplayer, you need to be able to take constructive criticism.

2006-01-14 [iippo]: *hands Baka a cookie* Well said. :D

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: ^_^

2006-01-14 [Lexi. Short and Sweet!]: is there any character type restrictions or does anything go as long as it isn't god modding?

2006-01-14 [iippo]: You can't copy an existing char. That will get deleted. But notice: not all characters will get to play -- we require a certain amount of talent in character description writing from the ones who will actually roleplay. So submit what you want, we'll decide if it is of enough quality to continue to round2.

2006-01-14 [Lexi. Short and Sweet!]: ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: Lols, so basically first the three chars one could enter will hafta pass inspection, I take it if a char or 2 fail, you will be allowed to continue with the one accepted,...ie, if only one out of the three cars that were brought in passes, you still get to race until you crash with that one, right?

2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: True.

2006-01-14 [Pinkdonkey]: Are unusual races such as rusalkas allowed ?

2006-01-14 [Kai Crewger]: I would think so

2006-01-14 [Blood Raven]: I play a pseudodragon, so why shouldn't you play some watery undead?

2006-01-14 [Fizban]: a fake dragon? What would that entail?

2006-01-14 [Kai Crewger]: probably something more like a drake, wyvern, or wyrm

2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: not reall, its a D&D thing.

2006-01-14 [Pinkdonkey]: ok thanks ! I'm having trouble on deciding which of my chars should enter ... o.O

2006-01-14 [Blood Raven]: Good point, I'll describe it...

2006-01-14 [iippo]: Lot of chatter was deleted. Next time do that in champion's tournament, where I am not this trigger-happy.

2006-01-15 [Mira Ravenheart]: A few people have reccomended this competition to me, but I have exams and summatives that are eating up my time.. *considers thoughtfully*

2006-01-15 [iippo]: Well, think it out for yourself, but I'd just like to point out that this isn't exactly the swiftiest-moving thing ever. It's another month until the deadline for just character submission is. Then there will be time that nothing happens because judges will eliminate bad chars and arrange the roleplay scenes out nicely, then and only then you'd have to play quite actively for a week, and then wait around some more for some more judging and arranging. You might not even proceed very far in the tournament... Sides, wouldn't it bum you out excessively to be free when the tourny is running and think "I should have entered..." There might be another tourny laters on (different), but not very soon

2006-01-15 [Mira Ravenheart]: *smiles slightly* You raise good points. The competition does start after my exams are finished and it really wouldn't take any more effort on top of the RPs that I'm already running. I could probably handle it, but I do tend to lack self-esteem as it is without getting my less-than-literate ass kicked by the lot of awesome RPers I know are here ^_^ So I think I'll watch for now... and probably end up joining anyway *grins*

2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: it'd be great if you do join. this is gonna be fun!

2006-01-15 [kay-chan]: Hee, like me, [Mira Ravenheart]. ^.^

2006-01-15 [windowframe]: There's more point to the tournament than winning, though :) Hopefully, since people will be randomly matched to RP, you'll end up meeting some people who turn out to be quite good RPers, that you never even knew RPed. As cliché as it sounds, t's also about meeting new people, and playing with them. :P

2006-01-15 [Nostalgic Beauty]: fun. where do we submit a character?

2006-01-15 [windowframe]: At the Contestants page. :)

2006-01-15 [Nostalgic Beauty]: thanks:)

2006-01-15 [iippo]: And if you are a decent-ish rper and get a good charatcer into the tournament, you get the badge and then people can easily spot it in your house that you actually are a role-player and a fairly decent one.

2006-01-15 [Duhe Rahn]: Hmm... This would be a great chance to expand on my new language creation and magic ladders... But a competitive roleplay sounds a bit, unsoundly based, for my tastes. Oh how I do hate awkward decisions.

2006-01-15 [windowframe]: *sigh* unsoundly based?

2006-01-15 [iippo]: I should imagine it's only competetive if you make it so. Many people here are just to do their best while having some fun, meeting a few new players and other general ET-PR -stuff. Basically none of the contestants need to worry with the judging unless they decide to do so. You can just submit a char, play a roleplay, trust the mods and judges to do their best, and enjoy the ride.

2006-01-15 [d33l33t3r]: I wanna join too!!! I love RPG'S!!! I live them!! I love finalfantasy, StarOcean, Grandia and sooooo more!! =D how can I join? It's my first contest! lool! sorry for the n00bish! ^_^;

2006-01-15 [Pinkdonkey]: Make a character and post the link to it int the Contestants page, after having read the rules of course :D good luck.

2006-01-15 [Fizban]: now, did you say the participants badge will say the round they made it to?? or only like if you make through the last few rounds...becuase if I lose really early or somethng lols, then I wont want a badge to say, participant, made it through the first round,....I mean, I doubt anyone would, becuase that would be producing the opposite effect, people would know you are an rp'r, and think your a bad one to boot, when althogh some may, not all are...because I dont think I am a bad rp'er at all, and I am sure that I could find a way to lose early on lol...

2006-01-15 [windowframe]: Round one won't have a participants badge, because they won't have RPed. All rounds after that, will. Because they will have RPed :)

2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: it might, but the badge is still a surprise. to us, anyway. And if it says you made it thru the first round (character judging) then that would have to mean yer an at least semi-decent RPer, just to make it thru character screening.

2006-01-15 [Duhe Rahn]: I guess I shall try, maybe it shll help break this acursed writer's block.

2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: maybe. you never know... *nods mysteriously*

2006-01-15 [Fizban]: lols, I dunno...I say leave it at first second-to like maybe tenth place in the tournement, dont do specific rounds, or if you do only do the last few, and leave all the rest as simple participants...but thast just my opinoun.^_^

2006-01-15 [Duhe Rahn]: A question. Are there individual rounds as well as rounds with groupings of 2 or more?

2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: as far as I know.

2006-01-15 [iippo]: Badge won't say "i made through round so-and-so". We will have a green version for all and a coloured one for best. But if you have noticed, photographers have phased badges for how many times they've participated (=how often they have donated). So you get completely green, a bit of colour on the bottom, bottom and frame coloured, bottom, frame and buggie coloured, and full-colour ones. So if you still play at round 4, it means you are participating more than the ones that got eliminated in the earlier rounds and a phased badge might be in order. But this is speculation and might not happen.

2006-01-15 [Fizban]: hey, that is quite good, the more color you have is a subtle indication of how much far you went, I like that, thats great^_^

2006-01-15 [iippo]: And the badge is still a surprise to everyone, since [Ittai] is quite busy. But it's not like we'll be needing them any time soon anyway. :D

2006-01-15 [Pinkdonkey]: That will actually be rather cool ...

2006-01-15 [Fizban]: roights:)

2006-01-15 [iippo]: So to make once more clear: you need to actually get through round 1 (character submission) to get any kindd of badge. They don't give badges in art contests to entries that are not according to theme.

2006-01-16 [kay-chan]: I'm getting the impression that these aren't fighting rounds, but rather, just RPing in a setting. It shall be interesting to see, if I'm right...

2006-01-16 [Kai Crewger]: you probably are.

2006-01-16 [Mira Ravenheart]: I don't think that it would just be fighting rounds...

2006-01-16 [Fizban]: since not all rp-chars are suited for fighters, I would think not...a character has more elements than simple abilities, so I would surmise that there would be several different layers and types of rounds to match the different layers of character description required. Ie, a char should be able to function in all settings, in a unique and specific manner. Fighting is dull if thats all thats done in an rp, because roleplaying isnt simple about fighting...glad this contest is run by people who see that.

2006-01-16 [Mira Ravenheart]: *nods her head in agreement* I really hope that this is not limited to fighting. If it were I'd be even less likely to join. If you're in to that sort of thing, though, perhaps you aught to watch Shini Productions, he does some chat sparring tournaments. I'm not sure what he's been up to lately, however...

2006-01-16 [kay-chan]: Yeah, fighting is actually really hard in an RP if you want to get it done right, and to be quite honest, it's pretty bleah. Necessary in most RP's. But it's not my cup of tea.

2006-01-16 [Fizban]: I like intense personal description and the progression and advancement of characters within in real time world, magic is but spice for the world, not the world itself...

2006-01-16 [Mira Ravenheart]: I'm a fan of 'intense personal descrption' as well, although I've started attempting to shorten my posts lately. Apparently I write too much to say too little.. *sighs*

2006-01-16 [Mira Ravenheart]: Speaking of worlds... *wanders off to go define the Rei'Lamys for [Fizban]*

2006-01-16 [kay-chan]: Meh, there's always a limit. If ye write a novel for every post, and nobody can really match it or get a word in edgewise, I'd say you've crossed the limit. But I don't mind some novel-like detail in posts... Eloquently succint posts are lovely and I want to have their babies. ^.^

2006-01-16 [Mira Ravenheart]: *laughs softly* They truly are lovely. I can't claim to write eloquently, but I do not write an exessive amount for a post. My best friend is just a hypocrit ^_~ But we love her anyway.

2006-01-16 [Fizban]: hahha!! lols, definetly, I mean one person replying so that another has a paragraph or 3 to reply with...I love that...epiffanies are better than sex! (like i'd know;)

2006-01-16 [Crimson Mistress]: A hypocrit am I? *grins* At least I'm loved... You don't write too much, sweets, don't worry about it. You have a lovely style and aught to believe in yourself. *pats Faith's head* As for this competition... *takes a look around*

2006-01-16 [Crimson Mistress]: Epiffanies are surely up there... *smiles*

2006-01-16 [Faulty Limerence]: Epiphanies...

2006-01-16 [Fizban]: thank you baka, phonetic (probably sp lol) is not something the english language is known for, annoyingly enough lols...

2006-01-16 [iippo]: Alright, conversation back to roleplaying or to champion's tournament.

2006-01-20 [raynesprite]: eep o_o ppl have been bugging me to join this but >.> Im such a coward XD lol

2006-01-20 [Kai Crewger]: don't think of it as a competition. Think of it as a place to RP with other great RPers, and just have fun. you may be surprised.

2006-01-20 [raynesprite]: <.<" erm um uh uhm er...I wouldnt stand a chance at winning tho ^^" there are sooo many people better at rpging than me, go ahead and check out The Poison City here is my character: The Poison City: Josie Im better known for my art than my rpging skill ">.>....

2006-01-20 [Kai Crewger]: try anyway. if you don't, then you'll be sitting there when it starts, wishing you had joined

2006-01-21 [raynesprite]: I know that its not about winning its about having fun but I asked my friends if I should join and if they say so I will >.> anyway if they say so this is the character Ill be using ^^: Newt

2006-01-21 [Maiden of Dragons]: Great Idea where do I sighn up for this?

2006-01-21 [iippo]: All character submissions to contestants.

2006-02-08 [Athilea]: Umm, I was worndering if a character completely of my own creation (from my book in progress Solinaria) is completely alright.

2006-02-08 [iippo]: Of course. That's the preferred kind of character.

2006-02-08 [Athilea]: Awesome. And. . .I'm in school right now, is that going to be a problem?

2006-02-08 [iippo]: I'm in uni now and I don't find it to be a problem (apart from to my lovelife, but that's not what we're talking about is it?) If you are concerned with timing (especially the bad kind), you will be assigned to a week sometime in the future when you are expected to be very active, so if we give you a week when you're supposed to finish some coursework or something, it can be discussed (although any information of such things would be appreciated before hand, so if you know you have to hand something in 1st March, let us know and we'll set you up after that).

2006-02-08 [Athilea]: Okay. I'll have to see when everything is due and what not. Thank you.

2006-02-13 [raynesprite]: .>

2006-02-13 [Tekkon KinKreet]: is there a reason I was denied access to the page Contestants? Does that mean that I'm not allowed to participate???? i really don't know whats going on..... :(

2006-02-13 [kay-chan]: The contest is closed...

2006-02-13 [Paul Doyle]: Maybe there's a private, spooky ritual going on that will affect all of us. Mwahaha! :P

2006-02-13 [kay-chan]: I'm not in the contest, so if it affects me, I'll be *really* creeped out.

2006-02-13 [raynesprite]: >.< lol *bangs her head against the wall* its just hopeless isnt it paul? ^^"

2006-02-13 [windowframe]: *Likes paul doyle's explanation best*

2006-02-13 [Kai Crewger]: no, everyone's been denied except the judges. you should be able to get back on once they're done judging

2006-02-13 [Kai Crewger]: so after this, we'll know who's in and who's out *suspense*

2006-02-13 [iippo]: Everyone's denied ecxet iippo and Silvie.

2006-02-13 [Grengo]: Huh.... you guys have 100-something bios to read >_> Good luck.

2006-02-13 [iippo]: We don't need luck, we need patience (and maybe some chocolate... but not pop because if we burst out laughing while reading, the pop will go to the keyboard and ruin it :/)

2006-02-13 [The Coffee-Prophet]: You'll need guns, lotsa guns. I just couldn't help it, that joke HAD to come :P

2006-02-14 [Haruno Sakura]: Pop. Yes, that *would* be most disasterous, wouldn't it. <.< >.> By the way, I'm NOT plotting anything.

2006-02-14 [Paul Doyle]: I hope mine's worth reading, despite the extreme length.

2006-02-14 [Four Winged Fox]: Ok I have not been on for like 21 days and I just came on and had a message to finish my character, but I'm denied acsses. does this mean I did not pass round one.

2006-02-14 [Lunnie]: It means you didn't finish your character in time before the due date, which you were aware of when you submited your entry.

2006-02-14 [Four Winged Fox]: opps sorry

2006-02-14 [Silverbullet]: and unfinished chars won't be judged, and thus don't pass round one..

2006-02-14 [iippo]: No chatter here either, that is to be directed to the page Champion's tournament.

2006-02-15 [sadrx]: Is there a mailing list or some-such? I'm never up on Elftown news (like in not hearing about this until too late), but I want to be game for Tournament II.

2006-02-15 [iippo]: There's no mailing list, you just need to be observant. The tournament was featured in the news, to which everybody gets a link on the right-hand side notice bar, under the messages and guestbook notes notices (as well as the news are plastered all over Mainstreet...)

2006-02-15 [Silverbullet]: how about knowing when round one is over and we can start RPing? Do we have to keep poping in here everyday to see if anything has changed? *not lazy, just curious :P*

2006-02-15 [Lunnie]: They probably don't even know themselves when round one will be over. I'm estimating a week from the time the contest had been closed, because they did write down that each round would last a week or so. This one might take a little longer though considering RP rounds can be cut at anytime while judging bios can't.

2006-02-15 [Silverbullet]: yeah, no... i forgot to add the part in my comment that asked "If we'd get a private message once the judgin was over" ^^"

2006-02-15 [Lunnie]: They don't it's been mentionned several times. Once judging is over, they'll reopen the contestant page for public viewing. If you're on it, you pass, if not then you fail.

2006-02-15 [Silverbullet]: ah... must've missed the comments where they said what you just said ^^

2006-02-15 [Duhe Rahn]: I'd almost bet right now that I failed

2006-02-16 [iippo]: No private messages, because we're not crazy. Good player keeps an eye on the page. When you can see changes in contestants, that's when round one will be over.

2006-02-16 [Silverbullet]: alrighties ^____^

2006-02-25 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Round one is the selection of the characters yes?

2006-02-25 [Silverbullet]: right.

2006-02-25 [Lunnie]: Aye.

2006-02-25 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: I can't even wait. I come here everyday to check if there's changes... eheh

2006-02-25 [Silverbullet]: hehe, you know you can just push that pretty little "start watching this wiki-page" button down-low at the bottom of the page and you'll be told automatically when there's a change/comment, right?

2006-02-25 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: And i am. Thats why i am replying lol

2006-02-25 [Silverbullet]: XP ...then why check back everyday?

2006-02-25 [NamelessMerc]: Impatience?

2006-02-25 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Nooo lol i come online everyday in elftown to check if there's wiki changes.... (thats cause no one messages me now so i only wait for this now!)

2006-02-25 [iippo]: Well sorry but the wait is going to take a while longer and everyone just needs to deal.

2006-02-25 [Anomynous]: That kind of figures... it takes at least two weeks to "judge" 20 drawings... there are about two *hundred* entries here...

2006-03-05 [Akayume]: erm....If I may ask...when is the tourn. going to start?

2006-03-05 [Yncke]: You may ask. :) A: When we've finished judging. Q: When is judging finished? A: When we've finished judging.

2006-03-06 [iippo]: Notice: Chatting is STILL not allowed in any other tournament pages than Champion's Tournament (and I'm beginning to think we should ban it from there too -_-) So a lot of useless comments were deleted.

2006-03-11 [Rynn Grayheart]: so, is there going to BE a RPG tournament? or is it already been...

2006-03-11 [windowframe]: The option you didn't mention - there is one, currently running. But closed to new participants.

2006-03-12 [~Acidelf3~]: When you finish judging will you let all of us know if our charcter(s) have been accepted and when it is to start threw message?

2006-03-12 [windowframe]: No.

2006-03-12 [~Acidelf3~]: How are we going to know then?

2006-03-12 [windowframe]: By watching the contestants page?

2006-03-12 [~Acidelf3~]: Alright then I can assume that page will be back up when the judging is over. Correct?

2006-03-12 [windowframe]: Yes.

2006-03-12 [Silverbullet]: from what i've gathered from previous comments, contestans will know that the judging is over by watching the contestants page. Once there isn't an "access denied" thing there, we'll be able to see who passed the judging and who hasn't.... right?

2006-03-12 [Silverbullet]: ignore my previous comment, took too long to write it and SilverFire answered before i could ^^"

2006-03-13 [iippo]: Again some comments were deleted that were not questions or other useful contributions. If you wish to discuss and speculate, go to Champion's tournament or some other wiki that allows random chatter (but on a side note, the sort of comments where you try to tell us how you think this contest should be run are not welcome, since they only tend to irritate. We know what we are doing, you don't know what we are doing. Thanks for the concern, but stop it. :)

2006-04-04 [iippo]: This page is not for yapping. Proper questions welcome, critisism of the volunteers who are giving their time for free, not welcome. *points at comment directly above this one*

2006-04-04 [Duhe Rahn]: Would it be too much to ask how things are going on the judging? I mean are you done between 1 and 100 entries?

2006-04-04 [iippo]: That is indeed too much to ask, as well as already discussed in Champion's Tournament earlier.

2006-08-24 [DemonsCrown]: When will the new contest start, what date exactly?

2006-08-24 [Yncke]: No start date for the next round has been set, yet.

2006-08-25 [Shadow-ofDeath]: The next round? Does this mean that I have missed the first one? I am sorry if you have all answered this a million times, but the "next round" thing threw me off, as I have not heard anything about a sudden change.

2006-08-25 [Yncke]: Well, the round where participants can enter their characters has already been closed.

2006-08-25 [Shadow-ofDeath]: Alright, thank you for clarifying that, almost had a heart attack. Still think this was all a great idea, but perhaps you should show the status of the thing at the top of the page, to stop people (like me) from having to ask what is going on. Just a suggestion, thanks for the help!

2006-08-25 [Yncke]: Just keep these pages on watch and you won't miss it. :)

2006-08-25 [Shadow-ofDeath]: I plan on doing just that. I can't wait to show off my roleplaying abilities.

2006-09-22 [otterheart]: Awww! it's over! I wanted to enter!

2006-09-22 [Faulty Limerence]: The entrance phase has been over for quite a long time. You kind of missed the boat there, [otterheart].

2006-09-22 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: But is the contest running now?! I mean...Did they picked already the second round contestants?

2006-09-22 [iippo]: Not yet. When you will be able to view the Contestants-page, you will know who is in.

2006-09-22 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Oh. It was access denied, thats why i was confused :S

2006-09-22 [Wes Foxx]: Yeah. They should give us a sort of first-round elimation evaluation, or in other words, tell us whose already definitely out. Then subtract all the people who have withdrawn after 7 1/2 months of waiting. It might help get it done much quicker.

2006-09-22 [windowframe]: We should, should we? Maybe I should just kick you out so I wouldn't have to put up with your constant whining. :D w00t.

2006-09-22 [Faulty Limerence]: They aren't going to update you. That's their decision, I wouldn't press for them to change it.

2006-09-22 [windowframe]: We all know 7 months is a long time, but lets go over all the reasons one more time - we had over 100 contestants - some submitted 3 bios, some 1, some 2 - lets avarage it out at 2 - that's 200 bios that need to be looked at individually and assessed according to a specific criteria. Let's also consider the fact that this is the first contest of it's find - even the judges are still 'finding their feet' as it were - you can hardly expect them to do a job in a week that they've never done before. And also, the most lovely reason - the personal lives of the judges - which may sound like a very bland reason indeed to you; since we can't divulge the information, due to their right to privacy, but I assure you if they've been slow, they've had damn good reason to be.

I fail to see how showing you who's still in or not before the judging is done will speed anything up at all.

2006-09-22 [Duhe Rahn]: Actually, in all logic, it would slow things down. Any that were cut would likely bombard the judges with messages of "Why was I cut from the competition?" Or other such comments.

That's just my two bits worth at least.

2006-09-23 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Don't get me wrong silverfire...But the time you used to explain wes foxx why you are taking your time, could've be used to read two descriptions.

But I guess people just need to take a chill pill... This community should be more about joy...And less arguments.

2006-09-23 [iippo]: Good that this "update us - no we won't" discussion got sorted out for the sixth time now. Everyone happy now.

2006-09-23 [Anomynous]: I think you guys'd have been better of if you hightlighted SilverFire's last reply and posted it up on the page in h1 for everyone to read before asking that age-old question again.
Just a thought...

2006-09-23 [iippo]: I doubt that'd help, since Wes Foxx has been the one to ask for this same information at least three times before, he knows we're not giving any updates at this point. We're almost done anyway, plus it's part of the excitement that everyone finds out at the same time.
But thanks for the suggestion. :)

2006-09-23 [windowframe]: Gato, in the time it took me to write that I could have skimmed one bio, or read half of one, fully - that's just reading. not juding. Don't get me wrong Gato, but just before I was about to go to bed I wasn't about to mark a bio.

2006-09-23 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: I understand...You have your own personal life too :-S

2006-10-09 [windgirl]: I just saw that there were such things as RP competitions for the first time on elftown, and I understand that this one is already closed to new entrances, but I was wondering if anyone knew when there will be another one?

2006-10-11 [Shadow-ofDeath]: X_o <( I may be crazy, but you are insane! )

2007-07-29 [Sunrose]: Crap, clicked wrong button. Fixed again though :)

2008-10-28 [Evolution X]: Sweet, this sounds soooo cool ^_^ Wish I'd found it when the 2008 competition had been open.

2008-10-31 [Wes Foxx]: As far as I know, this has been the only contest. Going on since two years ago and only just recently resolved xD

2008-10-31 [iippo]: There's been two: Patrons' Challenge was also a RP contest (sort of :P)

2008-10-31 [Evolution X]: Well someone must tell me when the next one's going to start! Also, would someone please tell me what a "Mary Sue" is?

2008-11-01 [Evolution X]: Thank you very much ^^ Just so I know, can you reuse characters from previous RP's or do you have to create a new one every time? I can get rather challenging with all the people I've made...

2008-11-01 [iippo]: In the past contests you have been able to use existing characters, and I'm sure that won't change in the future (unless it will).

2008-11-01 [Evolution X]: unless it's a "create a character on these guidelines, the characters will be judged on style, uniqueness and how true to life they are" competition...

2008-11-12 [Mortified Penguin]: ...*eats ramen*... when's the next 'un?

2008-11-12 [Evolution X]: *gnaws on a twelves pound turkey* Darn

2008-11-14 [NamelessMerc]: Gives plenty of time to prepare a new character, or to polish up the ones we used this time around.

2009-03-28 [Tekkon KinKreet]: ok, so its 2009 any idea on when the next tourny starts so i know when to start on a charrie?

2009-03-28 [Tekkon KinKreet]: lol, ok. i was just curious. thank you.

2010-02-24 [Akayume]: Is this going to start up again? Just as a future reference question, of course. (:

2010-02-24 [Akayume]: Ahhh, I see. Thank you. (:
